Happy Birthday, blog.
Yes, on Oct. 1, 2010, Peace & Projects turned one year old.
The day came just like any other day – or actually, scratch that – not at all like any other day one year ago.
It was Friday. Morning dawned and the family woke up. Instead of leaping out of bed to rush through my 30 minute shower routine, I slept in a little because of my Thursday night yoga soiree. Since I’m normally in bed by 10:30 p.m., staying up until midnight warrants a few extra minutes. Right??
Forgive me for showing off just a bit; My point is that life has changed a lot since I started this blog a year ago. Here’s a list of things I’m celebrating with my blogiversary:
Going from zero to 400 subscribers. That’s you! I’m so thankful to share this place with you, to bare my joys and struggles. The comments you leave encourage me; your support gives me momentum. Thank you, thank you, thank you. At the risk of sounding corny, I love you and I love sharing my thoughts with you. This feels like home.
Becoming debt free. We got out from under that awful pile of debt and it’s definitely one of the best accomplishments of the year.
Quitting my day job in June. Now I’m focused on this blog, freelance writing and my family.
In progress – my first ebook. I’m excited to reveal the results of my hard work in November. Until then, say it with me: “Don’t let your mind mistake the talking for the doing.”
Receiving a “beautiful blogger” award. I was an honor and joy to receive.
Learning how to shrug off the burden of doing it all. I still get stressed, I still get cranky with the people I love and I’m still not perfect. But designing my life around what matters to me has led to a lot of clarity. I’m feeling satisfied instead of spent.
Redefining this blog. My focus on peace and projects hasn’t changed, but defining myself as a hybrid homemaker will help me share this new season of my life with you.
Enough about me. What do you want to sing about?
It’s your turn to celebrate success. What did you accomplish this year? If it’s been a rough one, I encourage you to keep searching for those bits of sunlight among the clouds. This is a place to celebrate.
