Fall has been perfect, full of warmth and sunlight and color. Last night, the sunset matched the trees. The moment reminded me that the world an intense and beautiful place.
A day can be filled with those moments. They’re subtle, like when your baby laughs or your husband hugs you by the kitchen sink or when relief comes after a week of stress. You feel it – pure, vibrant happiness.
I arise in the morning torn between a desire to improve the world and a desire to enjoy the world. This makes it hard to plan the day. -E. B. White
- Exercise: Today, notice the intense, beautiful moments as they happen. Acknowledge the simple things – things that don’t equal anything grand, but add something good to your day. When stress comes – as it usually does – take three mindful breaths and return to the present moment.
What is beautiful to you in this present moment?
Simply Beautiful Things is where I share moments of wonder from the world around me. The photos are my own. You can check out the archives here.

Thanks, I really needed this reminder today.

A beautiful moment in my day : holding my (almost) 2 month old niece while she snuggled and snoozed on my shoulder.
Fresh babies! I love them. Thanks for sharing this beautiful moment…

The leaves have been some beautiful here this fall, as the temps. have stayed warm longer than is seasonal. I can’t help but daydream about capturing them in my camera, but nothing quite captures there beauty.
Another beautiful thing is being so relaxed you fall asleep on the couch in the early evening after a weary week…
That is a beautiful thing! Being able to drift off without feeling guilty … marvelous!
Have a peaceful week.
Melissa
